2nd Prize
Andrew Manka

Roger was inspired by his music teacher to pick up the viola, and he knw from tha moment on, he would wanted to work in music and inspire kids in the same way.
3rd Prize
Zak Kirkpatrick
Juneau
After years of songwriting, I recently released my first two singles, which were produced by Chance McCoy (formerly of the Americana powerhouse band, Old Crow Medicine Show). Heroes Sometimes Cry (my submission) will be part of a forthcoming album. Lyrically, I strive to connect to the raw emotions we feel in our lives--both the highs and the lows and I enjoy writing songs that champion the working class person. As a fourth generation Alaskan, some of my music tells stories from The Last Frontier's blue collar industries, such as logging and commercial fishing. Musically, I aim to resurrect elements of country music that have fallen to disuse in recent years, such as early rockabilly sounds, southern rock, and 70s outlaw country.

Performing Arts
2nd Prize
Chrissy Roes
Anchorage
Kate Bush is one of my favorite artists; she is known for expressively warbling her songs and pairing them with wildly imaginative music videos. I am a videographer by trade, so when I first watched the video for her debut single, "Wuthering Heights," I knew it would be a fun challenge to learn the moves and attempt to recreate the performance using the tools I picked up in film school. I had been thinking about doing this tribute video for over seven years, and then last summer I finally grabbed a few black-out curtains, performed the dance in my garage, and filmed it using my iPhone. I spent about 6 hours a week editing it over the last six months. It has brought great joy to share it with my friends, family, and fellow Alaskans!
1st Prize
Finn Werner
Fairbanks
Finn is a newcomer to the world of magic, taking up the art just this past year, but it was a great way to stay busy and focused. Finn plans on keeping it as a hobby, for enetertaining his friends and family.
3rd Prize
Brighton Brooks
Fairbanks
I've been a dancer, choreographer, actor, singer, artist, author, and event producer... but I've come to love drag as a unique way to express myself creatively and make new friends. It's an incredible opportunity for storytelling that uses comedy and fantasy to turn traditional norms and expectations upside down. Digital drag kept me sane during the insanity of 2020!
